It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Darlene Louise Allen. Darlene was surrounded by her loving family when she left this world on March 19, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on February 8, 1945, in Pittsburgh, PA, Darlene and Chuck moved to Akron, Ohio in 1963, where they raised their 4 children. A lifelong devout Catholic, she lived her life with a loving and kind soul whose warmth touched the lives of many. She was known for her generous spirit and the countless friendships she nurtured. Darlene was a beacon of love and kindness to all who knew her. She dedicated many hours volunteering to many organizations throughout her life. She was a proud and long-standing member of the Mark Heffernan/Margarete Judge Divisions of the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
Above all family was her greatest passion. She was preceded in death by her father Donald and mother Helen. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Charles of 61 years. She is also survived by her children and their spouses'; Wendy (Jim) Hafner, Chuck (Rhonda) Allen, Mary (Daniel) Mazeall, and Jennifer Allen, her legacy lives on in her 11 grandchildren, Derek (Ercilila), Gregory, Megan (Lynzi), Zachary (Juliana), Nicholas (Lucia), Eric (Megan), Bradley, Margeaux, Lauren and Daniel, 8 great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy and pride and her sisters and brothers, Donald (Mary Ellen) Boak, Jim (Jackie) Boak, Janet Carrico, Elizabeth (Chuck) Kelly, Theresa (Tom) Carlin.
Darlene's life was one of devotion, love, and laughter. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now at peace with her Lord and Savior.
A funeral mass will be held at Blessed Trinity Church at 11:00 am on April 26, 2025. A
celebration of life will flow from 12:30-2 pm. A private ceremony will be held at Western
Reserve Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest.
