Douglas William Estep, age 72 of Akron, Ohio, passed away following a brief illness.
Doug was born July 16th, 1951, in Akron, Ohio, and was the son of William Murray Estep and Margaret O. (Williams) Estep. Doug graduated from Stow High School, Stow, Ohio, in 1969. He worked as Parts Manager for Don Joseph, Chevrolet-Toyota in Kent Ohio for many years, and also Sparks Toyota in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Despite Doug's lifetime disability with poor eyesight, Doug never let that hold him back from living life to the fullest. Doug owned and flew his own plane, raced cars and motorcycles, did competitive weight lifting and the last few years took up competitive target shooting. Doug was quite good at anything he pursued.
Doug was the eldest of 3 children, a younger sister, Deborah M. Estep, and younger sister Miriam J. Estep. Our parents taught us the ways of our Heavenly Father, Jehovah God, and the wonderful promises His kingdom has in store for us. Doug appreciated all of God's creations and took a loving interest in plants, animals, and especially his beloved dog, Tia.
Doug is survived by his sister, Miriam J. Estep, brother-in-law Jeffrey D. Currey, cousins, and lifelong friends. A sister, Deborah Estep, died previously in 1984, at the age of 29.
Doug's celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 8 from 3 to 6. It will be held at the Carovillese Club, 570 East Cuyahoga Falls Ave Akron, Ohio 44310.
Memorials can be made to "One of a Kind" Animal Shelter in Akron Ohio.
