George Ohl

November 7, 1919 — August 4, 2024

George D. Ohl passed away on August 4, 2024 at the Justin T Rogers Care Center. George was born in Akron, Ohio and graduated from West High School. He was retired from the Lawson Milk Company where he was employed as a baker. A part of the Greatest Generation, George served in World War II with the 82nd Airborne Division in France, Belgium and in Germany. He was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Mable Ohl, his brother Raymond and wife Eula, sister Alice Schumacher and husband Elroy, His nephew Rev. David L. Schumacher, his niece Janice Schumacher, and a great nephew StephenSchumacher.

He is survived by his nephew Rev. Richard A. Schumacher and wife Heather, his nephew Robert K. Schumacher, great niece Allison Schumacher and nieces and nephews in Kansas.

The family wishes to express its deep gratitude to George's neighbors Mark and Reggie whose many years of kindness allowed George to remain in his home until just days before his passing. Additionally, thanks to the staff of the Veteran's Administration, and health care teams from SummaCare, Cleveland Clinic Hospice and the Justin T. Rogers Care Center.

George was lifelong member of Unity Chapel of Light in Tallmadge Ohio. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts can be made to Unity Chapel of Light 503 Northwest Ave Tallmadge Ohio 44278. A private family service will take place.
