Helen "Pumpkin" Winters (nee Lane), 74 years old, died peacefully on October 21,2024 at Summa Hospital in Akron after a brief illness. She was born in Barberton, Ohio to the late Jamie Sr. and Bertha Lane.
Helen graduated from Buchtel High School in 1968. She was a lifetime resident of Akron Ohio and a former member of New Trinity Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by Jamie Lane (dad), Bertha Lane (mom), and Eddie Tate (brother). She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. When she learned she was being admitted into the hospital her only concern was for her six parakeets and her fish Gilli. Her favorite football team was the Cleveland Browns. Helen loved watching her court shows and The Family Feud. Her Sundays were spent watching QVC and shopping for herself and others. In addition to that she loved making gods eyes for her family and friends. She didn't have a lot of money however, that did not stop her from giving to several charities. Helen always looked forward to ringing the bell for the Salvation Army, which she did for ten years. She was very generous to her family and the community.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory, sons Desmond (Michelle) Dandridge, Ron Winters, daughters Felicia Dandridge, Helenore (David) Owens, brothers Abraham (Marie) Tate, Jamie Jr. (Eva) Lane, Anthony Lane, sisters Carrol Spruill, Ruby Miller, fiance John Kirksey, 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
