James Sanders

James H. "Jim" Sanders passed away peacefully on October 16th surrounded by his loving family. Jim, 85, was born in Akron, Ohio to Edward and Opal Sanders and grew up in Coventry Township. After many years of dedicated service at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, he retired and was able to spend more time doing the things he loved including golfing, fishing, cooking and most importantly, rooting on The Ohio State Buckeyes. He was rarely seen in anything other than scarlet and gray and never missed one of their football games.

It's truly hard to find the words to describe Jim Sanders. He lit up a room with his smile, his warmth and a unique ability to make everyone feel special. Jim was also an amazingly gifted storyteller, hilarious jokester and the king of a great prank. The twinkle in his eye and the grin on his face after successfully pulling off a prank was as perfect as the prank itself. Time spent with this larger than life man was time filled with never-ending laughter. Jim will be so missed but he will forever live in the hearts of those who loved him.

Jim's greatest love was his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Opal and his beloved dog, Bentley. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Michelle Sanders, brothers Harold (Marion) and Michael (Marene) Sanders, children, James (Janet) Sanders, Diana (Ron) Ross, Charles Sanders, Christine Sanders and Elizabeth (Andrew) Rich, grandchildren, Laura (Mike) Griffith, Carolyn (Bryan) Davis, Kristen (Richie) Williams, Elliott (Brittani) Vecchia, Danielle (John) Eansor, Troy (Desi) Sanders, Dylan Sanders, Ryan Ross, William Ross, Hattie Sanders and Hannah Sanders and 11 great grandchildren.

A memorial service to celebrate James's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Paws & Prayers, an organization close to his heart, reflecting his love for animals and his generous spirit.
