Kit Callahan

Kit Wayne Callahan, (68), of Akron, Ohio, passed away on October 6, 2023.

Kit was born to Gerald and Bytha (Louise) Callahan on February 9, 1955, in Akron, Ohio. He was a graduate of Kenmore High School and proud veteran of the United States Navy. Kit served from 1973-1977 on the USS Elmer Montgomery followed by reserve duties from 1977-1979.

Kit is survived by his five children, Dawn (Vernon) Rowe, Jennifer Norman, Dana Shackelford, Christopher Callahan, and Crystal (James) Callahan, his twelve grandchildren, Matthew, Vernon Lee, Austin, Sean Jacob, Jordan, Sean, Emily, Jayla, Kaydence, Cayden, and Colton, and his four great-grandchildren, Owen, Ash, Emerlynn, and Noah. He is also survived by his siblings Connie (Kurt) Overholt, Yolanda (Rick) Ayers, Tina Callahan, John (Susie) Burgess, Robert (Terry) Burgess, and Mark (Lois) Callahan. Kit was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Vicki Callahan, and his sisters, Deanna Magaha and Bambi Miller.

Kit's family will host a memorial service on Wednesday, October 18th, 2023, at 11:00 am. Family and friends will be received at 10:30 am. The service will be held at Lakeview Methodist Church, 211 3rd St NW, Barberton, Ohio 44203. Interment immediately to follow at Western Reserve Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd, Seville, Ohio 44273. Funeral reception will be held at Norton Community Center following the interment, 4060 Columbia Woods Dr, Norton Ohio 44203.
