Michael Finn

January 27, 1950 — July 19, 2024

Michael J. Finn, 74, of Cuyahoga Falls passed away on July 19, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mike, affectionately known to family and close friends as Mickey, was raised in a loving home on the westside of Youngstown. He spent his childhood enjoying Mill Creek Park with family and his many friends. He graduated from Ursuline High School in 1968 and he served in the United States Army, stationed in Stuttgart, Germany. Mike was employed for many years with U.S. Steel in Youngtown and in Lorian. He also worked at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown. For the last thirty years Mike resided in Akron and Cuyahoga Falls.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Donald F. and Kathleen (Posey) Finn. Mike is survived by his son, Sean (Rita) Finn of Struthers, his grandsons, Sean Jr. and Jacoby, his brothers, Don (Cathie) Finn of Cuyahoga Falls, Pat (Kris) of Boardman, Terry (Mary Kay) of Akron and his sister Marianne (Don) Cominsky of Canfield, as well as several nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.

Mike was proud of his Irish heritage, and he was a gifted storyteller. At every family gathering, big or small, Mike would have everyone on the edge of their seats listening to one or more of his many tales that likely involved his adventures (or misadventures) in Mill Creek Park, his time spent in the Army and in the mills, his trips to Ireland or getting into trouble with his many friends. No doubt that his family will have a go at retelling Mike's stories, but it will never be with the same flare or sense of drama.

Mike's family wishes to thank the kind and dedicated caregivers at Heather Knoll in Tallmadge (where Mike spent the last few weeks) and Summa Hospice. A memorial service will be held at St. Christine's Church in Youngstown, at 11:00 on August 2, 2024, with calling hours at the Church, from 10:00-11:00 that morning.

"Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear."
